John Ozbay (Can Özbay), Carnegie Mellon University Music and Technology Master’s Student.

Started making music with Night Lamp, a band he formed, and produced in 2006. After a couple of years, struggling to find the right band members, in 2009  Osman Yaldiz, joined, and band changed its name to Coldest Fall. Band immediately started working on the first album Purple Sky. Erim Dogay joined for backing vocals, and Serkan Sandikkaya joined the band with the guitars. On Feb 14th, Purple Sky took its place on shelves. On June 14th, band released its first single, Heart Broken.

In 2010, Elijah Wood, the drummer, joined the band from New York. Which started a chain reaction in the band. John, and Elijah, started working on a way to record an entire album overseas, and as the first experiment, band released its first music video, Imagine (John Lennon Cover) to celebrate John Lennon’s 70th birthday.

With the release of Imagine, band started working on the next album. After spending months in the studio with Serkan, band started recording the new tunes with Elijah online using the method John invented.

On Apr 23 2011, Coldest Fall released its remotely recorded album Lines We Drew. A week later, band released a remotely filmed music video, for the song Time.

On Sep 19 2012, Coldest Fall, released its second single, and provocative music video In This World. Due to the internet censorship in Turkey, video never took off on Youtube or on other social websites, however it achieved a fair attention in Turkey. Coldest Fall became #9 in Turkey Rock Charts. (It was also rare for an English-music making band to be successful in Turkey, therefore it was a success for the band).

In Fall 2012, John moved to Pittsburgh, PA. He’s currently a Master’s student in Carnegie Mellon University Music Technology Department. Although distance never effected Coldest Fall’s music, due to the intensity of the band members’ work, and schedule conflicts, Coldest Fall is currently not making music.

On Jan 30 2013, John started working with Ziyun Peng, composing an experimental music performance with Intonarumori instruments for the Wats:ON Festival in Pittsburgh.
